Captain Arthur Henry Wilson was killed on18th October, aged 39, the only surviving son of Colonel and Mrs. W. H. Wilson, of Broadview, Petersfield. His first service was in the 3rd Battalion; he joined the 2nd Battalion at the Curragh in December, 1896 and was promoted Lieutenant in June, 1898, and Captain in June. 1903. Served as Adjutant, 2nd Battalion, from December, 1899 to May, 1900, and again from March, l907 to March 1910. During the South African War, Captain Wilson served with the 2nd Battalion, being awarded both medals with five clasps He took part in the operations in the Orange Free State,including the actions at Houtnek, Biddnlphsberg, Witterbergen, and Caledon River, serving for some time with the 5th Mounted Infantry. From 1910 to 1913, Captain Wilson served at the Depot, Beverley, subsequently exchanging into the lst Battalion at York. His untimely end removes from the list of officers, a good sportsman and genial comrade, and his loss will be much felt. , Photo
