Second,Lieutenant Logan Studley. who died from wounds received in action near Ypres, was born on 12th December. 1895. so he was not 18 years of age at the time of his death. He was the youngest son of Captain and Quartermaster H. Studley, 7th Royal Highlanders, and Mrs. Studley of St. Andrews. He had served as a Drummer boy in his fathers battalion. and about a year ago. while still at the Madras College. St. Andrews, he enlisted in the Princess of Wales Own (Yorkshire) Regt. A very smart and promising young soldier, he soon came under the notice of his officers and was appointed Lance Corporal. on completion of his recruit s drills. When his regiment was ordered to France, he was not selected for foreign service, being under age, but by dint of hard pressing he was ultimately allowed to go. His conduct in the field earned him a commission. but he was only informed of his good fortune on the day of his death.
