To be Temporary Second Lieutenant dated 4 October 1915 – Medal Index Card British War Medal and Victory Medal with – 13th Battalion wounded 20 July 1916 – East Yorkshire 13th Battallion East Yorkshire Regiment – Regiment Reported wounded August 1916 – East Yorkshire Regiment Reported wounded April 1917 – East Yorkshire Regiment Military Cross For conspicuous gallantry during patrol work on two successive nights. Though wounded, he remained helping in wounded till too exhausted for further action. London Gazette 25 August 1916 – 13th Battalion awarded bar to Military Cross 21 March 1917 – Bar to Military Cross For cospicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He rallied his men and led them forward at a critical time. On another occasion he displayed great courage and initiative when in command of his company. He has at all times set a splendid example.
