Cadet Sergeant Universatity of London Officers Training Corps to be Second Lieutenant (on Probation) dated 18 April 1914 , 1st Battalion killed by Shrapnel bullet , 2nd,Lieut. T. R. Bottomley. East Yorkshire Regiment, whose name was on the list of killed, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Bottomley, of Thornton Heath. Kent, and formerly of Ripponden, and was 27 years of age. He was educated at Rishworth Grammar School and at Battersea College, his intention being to take up teaching as a profession. in April last he joined the Special Reserve, and prior to being drafted to the front was stationed at York, being attached to the lst Battalion. Early in September he was married at Cambridge to Miss E. Gibson, only daughter of Mr. W. H, Gibson, of Hollins Lane. Sowerby Bridge. .
