Attested 8 September 1914 at Central Recruiting Office City Hall Hull – Initial training in Hull at the Cricket Ground Anlaby Road and on 18 January 1915 to Ousthorpe Camp Pocklington. In May 1915 the 11th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment joined the 92nd Infantry Brigade of the 31st Division and moved for Divisional training to Penkridge Bank Camp near Rugeley, 18 June 1915 on to South Camp Ripon and then to No 2 camp Hurdcott near Fovant Salisbury – Medal Index Card entered Egypt 23 December 1915 with 11th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment – Entered Marseilles France 8 March 1916 – Arrived Bertrancourt on the Somme 2 April 1916 – East Yorkshire Regiment Posted wounded Snapper September 1916 – East Yorkshire Regiment Posted wounded Snapper January 1917 – Transferred 16th Battalion, the County of London Regiment, Affiliated To King’s Royal Rifle Corps 45161 – Killed in action 27 September 1918
