Pouring rain all day. Enemy artillery active on Abbaye trench and C.T. Casualties 1 killed (Pte Osbourne C Coy) 8 wounded. At night O.C. C Coy pushed out 4 advanced posts about 70 yards ahead of centre of front line manned by 12 men each. Trenches from 6 inches to 2 feet 6 inches deep in mud and water. Officers and men all feeling effects.
